Seth says how scary his nana is but Summer thinks she could take it. Seth tells Summer his nana is very judgmental and opinionated but Summer thinks he is ashamed of her. Seth reassures her he isn't and is only protecting her. Seth leaves to pick up food for the Seder which Summer asks what that is. Seth then leaves her with the fact that she is not meeting the nana.

Later, the doorbell rings and Sophie answers to door to find Summer. She introduces herself to Sophie and brings macaroons for Seder when Seth joins them. Summer tells Sophie that she is dating Seth and asks Summer to come to Seder. She tells Summer that she can ask the four questions and seems to have brushed up on Judaism traditions. Sophie is very impressed and tells Seth how lucky he is. Summer tells Seth that the nana is not scary at all and plans to outdo Seth. A little later, Seth and Summer overhear shouting between Sophie and Sandy in the kitchen and decide to head upstairs to Seth's room.

In Chino, Marissa leaves to talk to Eddie and Ryan gets a phone call from Seth who pleads with Ryan to come home because things are heating up and nana is scary again. Summer asks if Marissa is okay and Ryan tells them she won't leave. Ryan says how Eddie is threatening to fight him and Julie is threatening to have him arrested. Seth tells Ryan to come home then since there is nothing more he can do but Ryan doesn't want to leave Marissa there.

Before the Cohens start Seder, Sophie tells Sandy that she is flying home early tomorrow to her first treatment. Sandy hugs her and thanks her. Sophie tells him she will tell Sandy's siblings. They decide to head to the hardware store to get what they need for their project.

Later that day, Summer and Seth decide that they plan to go to the opening of the Lighthouse diner, then sneak out to fix up Marissa's room before she gets back home. Seth agrees when she finds their old high school yearbook. She finds pictures of Seth who was the only one on the sailing team, comic book club, etc. Summer asks him if she was really mean to him and Seth says it had to require her to speak to him. Summer responds telling him that a lot has changed in the year and kisses him.

At the party as guests are arriving, a furious Luke drives up, drinking under the influence. Ryan and Marissa are grabbing food when Seth walks up to them. Seth is flustered and trying to keep the secret from them. Summer starts making signals at him to leave so they can fix up Marissa's room. Ryan nearly catches him as Marissa says Seth is getting weirder. Back in Marissa's room, Seth and Summer are trying to get things set up as Seth breaks a piece of her wall off. Summer orders Seth to grab some tools that he has no idea what or where they are. Seth starts to paint the walls instead as Summer fixes his mess.

The next day, Marissa and Ryan get back to her place and she says how she is now a prisoner in her own life and needs sleep. They hear something coming from upstairs and go up to find Seth and Summer arguing in Marissa's newly designed and refurnished room. Seth and Summer took out all of her things from her boxes, organized her room, painted her walls, and designed it all. Marissa starts crying as she thanks them both. Marissa looks around her room in awe as Summer gives her a newly found Care Bear stuffed animal of Marissa's. Ryan and Marissa cuddle up on her bed while Seth and Summer join. Seth and Summer - The Mallpisode 5

A few days after getting back together, Summer is at the diner and looking at a postcard but stashes it away when she sees Seth. They kiss and Seth says how concerned he is for Ryan after his conversation with him earlier. Summer says that they won't leave Ryan behind and are determined to cheer him up, possibly taking him to the mall and inviting Marissa. Seth thinks that there is still a chance for Ryan and Marissa to get back together. Summer says that Marissa is happy now, which then Seth replies with a joke. After some persuasion, Seth was able to convince Ryan to not take a bus to Chicago and join the trio at the mall for the afternoon instead. Once they arrive, Seth notices the postcard in Summer's purse but Summer tells him to come inside, noting it would be awkward for Ryan and Marissa to be alone without them.

Seth and Summer - The Mallpisode

Summer makes a joke and then her and Seth end up kissing right in front of an uncomfortable Ryan and Marissa. Seth and Summer continue to make out and flirt with each other in the back of the mall as Ryan and Marissa continue gathering clothes. Then, there was trouble. Seth tries to get out but the door is locked from the inside. They all start to freak out and try to call for help but no one has service. Summer pulls out a bobby pin and Seth tries to pick the lock but ends up breaking the pin. Summer spots a vent that Seth and Ryan decide to climb through.

As the boys are going through the vents, Summer and Marissa finish up with the last of the clothes. Marissa then talks to Summer about how her and Seth seem happy back together. Summer then says that she wants things to be different this time, for better or for worse and truly feels connected to Seth. After Seth opens the locked door, The Core Four go out into the mall to find it closed. Ryan and Seth try to find an exit but Summer insists they hang out and spend the night. Summer calls her parents, Seth and Ryan call their parents, and Marissa tells Alex she is thinking of spending the night at her mom's. Summer grabs masks and suggests they all play hockey together for whoever gets the bed in the Ethan Allen showroom. All of them suit up and gear up and play 2v2. Marissa and Ryan play against Summer and Seth. At some point, the ball goes down the escalator and Marissa and Summer race each other to get it. Summer and Marissa fight for it until they notice some new cosmetics.

Summer and Seth are setting up the tent when Seth sees the postcard in her bag that is from Zach. He asks Summer to go grab something and Seth contemplates reading the postcard. He gives in and reads it until Summer comes back and finds him reading it. Summer and Seth are arguing about the fact that Seth went through her purse and read Zach's postcard. Summer reveals she has been talking to Zach since he is her friend and Seth wonders why Summer didn't let him see it. Marissa and Ryan interrupt them with their snacks and they all stop to eat. Summer is fixing a bed for herself when Seth says he isn't mad but changes his mind when Summer says she is mad at him. Seth starts raising his voice until Summer hears footsteps. She tries shushing Seth and they notice security getting closer to them. Seth and Summer run off to tell Ryan and Marissa.

In the tent, Marissa and Ryan talk about Seth and Summer getting back together. They both joke about how they will continue to hear about it and how Seth and Summer are probably fighting as they speak. Marissa brings up Thanksgiving in The Homecoming when Seth dated both Summer and Anna and they found out. Ryan says how he wish they could have been there but Marissa says they were to busy driving stolen cars in Chino. Ryan and Marissa agree that they had fun and Seth barges into the tent saying they need to leave right away. Security is looking for The Core Four and find think they found them in the tent, except they set up their hockey gear and four manikins watching The Valley. The alarms start going off and Seth, Ryan, Marissa, and Summer sprint out of the mall laughing and hop into the car. Ryan drives them out of there and Marissa asks if they all want food. Seth jokes that Summer wants Italian and they start arguing and hitting each other. Marissa and Ryan look at each other and agree on cheeseburgers and chili fries at the diner.

Seth and Summer - The Mallpisode 4

As the gang arrives at the diner, both Seth and Summer are still arguing about the postcard. Marissa and Ryan say they will save room in a booth and get out of the car as they leave both Seth and Summer in the backseat to figure things out. Seth says that now Ryan and Marissa are more functional than they are. Summer begins to wonder if her and Seth do not work as a couple anymore. She then asks Seth to pinky swear with her that if she tells him what's on the postcard, they stop bickering. Seth accepts and she shows it to him. Zach said that she should say hi to Seth for him. Seth and Summer kiss and make up. The couple are then seen looking on into the diner arm-in-arm as Ryan and Marissa are starting to throw fries at one another, with Seth noting how they are all getting along with each other. They join them in the diner shortly after.

The Blaze of Glory[]

She then asks her to tell Seth not to call her "Coop" since he called her that earlier. Ryan joins them and she says she was hoping to run into him. Ryan and Summer are confused and then asks Ryan to help work on the bonfire. Ryan and Summer are both still confused but Ryan eventually agrees to help. Seth eventually runs into them and he says how great it is that they came up with the idea on their own. Marissa, Ryan, and Seth all start to put the pieces together and Seth leaves for the library. Summer goes after him and then Marissa and Ryan agree to meet at hers and Alex's.

Seth is pretending to read until Summer starts hitting him with the book. She starts yelling at him while everyone in the library shushes her. Summer drags him to a more private area and asks why he messed with Marissa and Ryan's friendship. Seth first tells her he suggested they work together for the good of the school but she sees right through it. Seth then says that Marissa and Ryan belong together and that it is the way it's supposed to be. Summer thinks the opposite and that they are a disaster together and Seth needs to stay away from them.

Marissa tells Summer about her fight with Alex and she suggests she should move back home. Marissa says she can't because it would make her mom too happy. Marissa tells Summer that Ryan won't be coming to the bonfire and that she thinks it is because of Alex. Summer says she is confused and then Marissa says that Alex found out about the tent at the mall. Summer figures out it was Seth and leaves to kick his ass. Summer goes to Seth and grabs his arm holding it behind his back in pain. She then asks him to apologize, starting with Ryan. They go to the pool house looking for him and Seth thinks he is at the bonfire. Summer and Seth arrive and discover that everything seems to be alright. The Core Four then enjoy the bonfire with the rest of their classmates.

The Brother's Grim[]

At the diner, Summer wonders why Zach is acting so normal since he returned from his trip and Seth is a little uneasy as to how concerned she is about it. Summer asks if Zach said anything and Seth tells her about his new girlfriend. Summer is surprised that he moved on so fast. During the Newport Living launch party, Summer finds Seth and she is mad that he can't figure out why she is upset and tells him that she is going to his room and wait for 20 minutes and if he didn't figure it out by then, she would leave.

Seth then goes to Summer and tells her that he thought about it but doesn't know what he did wrong. Seth says he is willing to apologize to which Summer then asks why he told her about Zach's new girlfriend. Seth says it was because Summer begged him to but she knows there is another reason. Seth says he was jealous because she was going on and on about Zach and that he was worried that she no longer wanted to be with him. Summer says that somehow she is drawn to Seth every single time despite his flaws and his quirks, reassuring him. The couple then joke and spend time on his bed kissing each other. A little later, the two of them are then seen with Sandy, Kirsten, Ryan, Marissa and Trey enjoying leftovers from the launch party.

The Risky Business[]

On the day of the Orange County auction, Zach helps Seth take more pictures of the auction pieces, including the comics they are going to donate. Carter walks in and talks with him about their comic book. Zach tells Carter about how they almost sold it except Seth had a meltdown. Seth reveals he has been writing more comic stories but he says he can't go ahead with attempting another comic without Summer's approval.

Summer is arranging her closet when Seth comes in and cozies up to her, but she knows that he wants something. He then tells her that him and Zach were talking at the yard sale and Summer is glad to hear that they are putting the past behind them. Seth states that he and Zach were talking about their passions and dreams, where Summer interrupts wondering if that was made Seth think of her and she kisses him. Summer then figures out that if Seth was trying to talk to her about the past comic, she would kill him and Zach while they sleep.

Later, Summer overhears Seth and Zach and she asks if they are bringing back the comic book. Zach and Seth backpedal in fear as Summer questions if they are going to ruin their friendship again. Zach and Seth say it won't be like before and that they already said yes to a meeting. Summer warns them that if anything goes wrong, there will be no graphic novel, comics, or even her and makes them all pinky swear.

The Rager[]

Zach and Seth are going over the meeting and Zach thinks he should do the talking this time. Seth assures Zach he will be better this time and talk about the publisher they will be meeting. Summer joins them and is not interested in hearing about the graphic novel. Zach leaves them to it and Seth apologizes to her about it and that he will tell her all she needs to know. Summer thinks that Zach and Seth working together is a bad idea and doesn't want to hear anything about it.

The next day at Harbor, Marissa tells Summer about her fight with Ryan that she says has been building up. Marissa says that since Trey arrived, it has been really hard for Ryan. Summer says that at least Marissa tried and if Ryan doesn't want a relationship with his brother then it is his own problem. Marissa worries that Ryan will regret not having built a relationship with him to which Summer says she sounds like a girlfriend. Marissa then says if something important was happening in Seth's life, Summer would be there for him. Summer hesitates and realizes she has been lacking in that.

Zach and Seth are talking about how much they appreciate Reed. Seth tells Zach he is not allowed to tell Summer about anything comic-related just as Summer interrupts. Zach drops the bomb on Seth in front of Summer about Reed and leaves them to it. Seth is then forced to tell Summer that she is the comic book representative but doesn't need to know. After listening to what Marissa said earlier, Summer then says that she does want to know. She says that she knows the comic is important to Seth so it is important to her.

The following day at Caleb's mansion, Marissa drags Trey out of his apartment and back to her house where Ryan, Seth, and Summer wait for him. Seth and Summer greet him first and then Ryan does who waits for Trey to pull him into a hug. Julie is about to leave and asks Marissa if she can trust her while she is gone. Marissa tells her it will just be them and a few other friends. Julie makes a joke and heads out.

Later that night, Summer makes her way through the party and eventually finds the bathroom where she runs into Reed. Summer asks her about Zach and Reed says that he is very sweet. Reed brings up characters from their comic book and Summer questions how she knows. Reed reveals to Summer that she is the publicist working with Zach and Seth. Summer finds Seth and yells at him about Reed. Summer asks him not to pretend that he wasn't lying. She asks Zach for a ride as Seth is going after him to explain.

The O.C. Confidential[]

Zach finds Summer who is still mad at Seth who she thinks lied about Reed being a girl. Summer tells Zach that Seth was being sneaky as he approaches her with a flower. Seth gives her this story about the flowers and that he wants to apologize to her. Summer says its sweet and then Seth offers Summer tickets to see Death Cab for Cutie at The Bait Shop. Zach interrupts saying that Reed sent an email about his draft for their comic that she loved but has notes on it. Zach says that they have a meeting with Reed but it just so happens to be during Death Cab's performance and Summer is disappointed. Seth tells Zach he can't go because he has Summer and Death Cab. Zach says they can't keep pushing things with Reed because she is already working around their schedule. Seth is so conflicted and asks Summer to meet up after his meeting which she gets mad about and gives the flower back.

Death Cab for Cutie is performing and Marissa, Ryan, and Summer are watching. Summer is upset that Seth is not there and missing his favorite band. Seth brings Summer to the party for his and Zach's comic and Summer is annoyed to be there. Seth gets taken away to meet a legend in comics and leaves Summer. Seth is getting bombarded by executives wanting Seth to think big and crazy things for the comic book and he is having trouble absorbing all the advice. Summer interrupts as they are all talking about a potential video game and show for the comic demanding to speak with him. Summer starts going off on the executives which Reed overhears. She makes a toast to Seth and Summer and Summer storms out, asking Zach for a ride home. Seth gets taken back into the party while Zach takes Summer home.

The Return of the Nana[]

One day, Summer is going to town on a punching bag and blasting music. Seth walks in wanting to talk to her and apologize about what happened in The O.C. Confidential. Summer says she was humiliated and Seth tries reasoning with her saying he wanted her to be apart of the comic. Summer asks for a time out and Seth says its perfect timing since he is going to Miami. They argue and it's uncertain whether or not they will be back on when he gets back.

Summer and Zach are enjoying dinner while the broadcast continues to show on the T.V. She then sees Seth eating the cherry about of Mary Sue's mouth and immediately gets up to kiss Zach. Zach is surprised and they continue making out.

The Showdown[]

At Harbor, Seth starts to explain himself about Miami and Summer stops him saying she knows what he did. Seth tries to talk to her but Summer dismisses him, saying she isn't mad. Summer says that she thought things would be different with them but she feels like he hasn't changed at all. Summer tells Seth that she kissed Zach and they seem to break up at this point, as things are confusing between them.

Zach finds Summer in the halls and asks if he talked to Seth. Zach asks what it means for them and if it was a revenge moment. Summer said it was but that it could also mean more. Seth sees them and interrupts calling Zach a traitor and someone who used to be his friend. Zach tells them both that he is quitting the comic book because it has caused too many problems between him and Summer. Seth says that their launch party is coming up and Summer argues that the comic means too much to him. Zach responds saying that Summer means more to him and she storms out. Seth tells Zach he sees what he is doing and tells him it won't work. Zach and Seth agree they are at war over Summer, once again. Zach arrives at the meeting with Reed and Seth. Reed wants to talk about their launch party and Zach tells her he is quitting the comic. Reed refuses saying that he signed a contract and that if he were to quit, he would be facing a lawsuit for many years. Seth celebrates and then Zach accuses Seth of conspiring with Reed to keep Zach from quitting.

Seth and Ryan are playing video games and Ryan tells him how Marissa has been acting weird and nervous ever since he got back home. Seth suggests he asks Trey since he was around and tells him he is working on taking down Zach. Ryan figures out that Seth is using the comic book club to spy on Summer and Zach. One of the kids in the comic book club is watching Summer and Zach at the diner and Seth says that it is because Zach is trying to destroy the club. Seth rushes over to the diner entrance just as Summer and Zach are leaving. Seth tells Zach they need to get to the launch party early and Summer says that Zach quit. Seth then reveals that he didn't and that Zach hadn't yet told her. Seth heads inside giggling and watches Summer hit Zach upside the head, continuing to laugh.

Next day, Seth is going through the comic that very closely resembles his life and meeting Ryan, including events of the first night they connected in Premiere. Reed stops him as he was going on for too long and Zach and Seth continue to bicker. Reed then brings out Summer in her Little Miss Vixen outfit which everyone applauds. Later, Summer is taking pictures with fans until Seth grabs her, asking to talk with her. Seth wholeheartedly apologizes to her about what he did in Miami. Seth begs her for another shot saying that he loves her just as Zach walks in on them. Zach and Seth start pushing each other around and Summer tells them to stop. Reed walks in and accidentally pushes Zach into Seth who then starts fighting him, making a mess in the store. Summer tries to stop them until she gets head-butted. Zach then hits Seth over the head and Seth jumps on him. They both continue to wreck the store until Summer yells at the both of them. Seth and Zach ask her to choose and she chooses neither of them.

The O.Sea[]

At Harbor, Seth apologizes to Zach about the launch party and they both agree to put it behind themselves. They wonder if Summer feels the same way as they run into her. Summer says she is sick of their excuses and says it will be up to the both of them to decide who goes with her. Seth and Zach start arguing about who will take her just as Zach gets a message from Reed, explaining how she needs to meet with them both. At the meeting with Reed, Seth and Zach try to talk about the disaster of their comic launch. Reed then tells them both that George Lucas is interested in their comic and is considering making it into his next movie. Seth and Zach are over the moon about it until she says that only one of them can go to the meeting. Reed then says that they both need to figure out who is going and tells them that it is happening the next night, which is the night of their prom. Zach says how terribly he wants to go to the meeting with George Lucas while Seth says how badly he also wants to meet him. Zach says that one of them has to go to the meeting while the other takes Summer to prom. They both have no idea how they will settle it.

Next day, Summer is listening to music and flipping through magazines at school when Zach and Seth approach her. Zach and Seth try to figure out who she hates more and Summer says that she has always chose one over the other when they either left her or someone wronged her. She says it is entirely up to them and she doesn't care how they decide. Seth offers to flip for it but Zach says they should flip right before prom so no one can back out of it. They plan to meet up right before prom to do it. Zach and Seth flip for who is going to meet George Lucas and who is going with Summer to prom. They flip for it and reveal the results and wish each other luck. Seth ends up going to the meeting while Zach goes to prom with Summer.

At prom, Summer is dancing with Zach who's phone keeps buzzing which annoys her. He checks his phone and they are messages from Reed about the meeting with George Lucas. Summer can see that Zach would rather be there and encourages him to go, since he is talking himself into it. Zach then says he knows Summer didn't want him to be her date and Summer says she knows that he doesn't want to be at prom either. Summer says he has every right to abandon her since she did in The Rainy Day Women. Zach says goodbye to Summer. Seth tells George about his deal with Zach just as he shows up. They both acknowledge that Seth wants Summer and that Zach wants the comic. Zach gives his tux jacket to Seth and tells him to hurry to prom.

Seth: "Okay. I know I'm not who all you imagined as prom king... seeing as how I'm not who any of you actually voted for. But she's the queen, and I love her. So I guess that makes me king."

Summer: "Cohen..."

Seth: "No, I'm just a guy standing next to you. You're the queen, all right? I'm the jester perhaps, if that works. So let me ask you this, Your Highness... What can I do to make it up to you?"

Summer: " Well, you..."

Seth: "Uh."

Summer: "Well... (chuckles) you can start by dancing with me."

- Seth giving his prom speech before the school, reaffirming his love for Summer and making up with each other.

Summer and Marissa walk around prom, dateless. Marissa asks Summer if she is okay and she assures her she is fine. They consider leaving until the prom announcer, gets ready to announce the prom queen and king. Summer ends up winning prom queen. She goes up to stage just as he announces Zach as the prom king, who has no idea that he had already left prom. The announcer gives Summer her crown and calls out for Zach. Just then, Seth arrives and storms up to the stage to make an announcement, saying he loves Summer. Seth then asks what he can do to make things up to her just as "Fix You" by Coldplay, plays in the background. Summer who is moved by his speech, then says that he can start by dancing with her and they share a long kiss with each other, leaving many of the other students in awe.

The Dearly Beloved[]

Before the funeral of his grandfather, Caleb, Seth is reading in his room when Summer walks in. Summer brought Princess Sparkle for Captain Oats hinting that she is there for him while also meaning that Summer is there for Seth. Seth says he is more worried about his mom because of how he thinks she is going to rehab. Seth isn't sure as to how much Kirsten really has been drinking and feels guilty since he ran away, and knows that was hard on his mom. Summer thinks it is bigger than him and continues to comfort Seth. Later that night, Sandy asks Summer to get Seth out of the house in regards to Kristen drinking heavily again. She agrees and finds Seth, Ryan, and Marissa in the pool house and asks them if they want to head over to the Bait Shop. Marissa is concerned that Trey will be there and asks Ryan if he is there currently. Ryan tells Marissa that Trey is on day shifts and that she will be okay. They walk out together hand-in-hand.

The Core Four arrive at the Bait Shop and Trey sees them walk in. Marissa is mad when she sees Trey there and he awkwardly walks over to them. He apologizes to Seth and Ryan questions why he is there. Trey claims he is picking up a pay check and Marissa goes on to prove that he can't even do that until the next week. Summer notices her coldness toward Trey and Seth acknowledges that what Marissa said is true. Jess joins in and says some rude things to all of them and walks away with Trey in her hand. Ryan and Seth go get drinks while Marissa and Summer find some place to sit. Trey tells Jess he doesn't want to go through with it since Ryan is there. Trey pulls out the loaded gun.

Summer asks Marissa why she acted that way toward Trey and Marissa pretends to not understand. Ryan asks Seth how he is and he isn't doing very good. Ryan then sees some strange older men walk into the Bait Shop who meet up with Jess. She does some of the drugs and asks the guys for the money. They test out the drugs Jess brought and they offer a re-negotiation for the money. Suddenly, Jess gets pissed and pulls the gun from Trey's pocket and points it at them. She asks for her money and they say she has to shoot them for it. Jess fires the gun toward the ceiling causing chaos amongst the guests. Everyone runs and Jess grabs the money, heading for the exit with Trey. Ryan sees them and then sees a guy point a gun at them. Ryan yells at everyone to get down as the shot is fired. Ryan keeps Marissa down while Seth keeps Summer down. Summer checks on Marissa who is bleeding from her head, but it was just broken glass that she fell down on. Summer attends to Marissa's head and Ryan is pissed.

Next day after getting Kirsten to agree to go into rehab, Seth and Ryan float in the pool together to try and clear their minds but they don't find it helpful. Ryan says they should get out of the house but Seth says he isn't in the mood when the doorbell rings. Seth answers it to find Summer wanting to talk to him. Summer asks to speak with him alone and makes sure Ryan can't overhear just yet. Seth assures Summer it's okay and Summer tells Seth about what happened when they were in Miami. Summer tells Seth that Trey attacked and assaulted Marissa. Seth pieces it together and Summer tells him that Marissa didn't tell Ryan because he would do something drastic. Seth says that Ryan has to know since he doesn't know who Trey would attack next.

Seth then tells Ryan that Trey attacked and assaulted Marissa and that she fought him off in The Return of the Nana. Ryan goes cold and dense as he hears Seth tell him the truth. Ryan is speechless until he says that he has tried over and over again with Trey and to be a better person but can no longer do that. Ryan storms out saying he is going to settle things with Trey. Marissa walks into the dining room to find Jimmy and Julie preparing dinner. Marissa asks what is going on and Julie says that Jimmy will be staying with them while Jimmy moves back to Newport. Jimmy asks Marissa if she is okay with it and Marissa says she is willing to do anything to have her dad back and hugs Jimmy. She then hugs Julie and Marissa says that she would love for them to be a family again. Jimmy says that The Coopers are coming back just as Marissa gets a phone call. Marissa steps aside to take Seth's call who tells her that she could stop Ryan and that he knows. Marissa immediately hangs up, gets in her car, and heads to Trey's as Summer and Seth also make their way over.

Ryan is driving to Trey's and Trey is still cleaning up his place, getting ready to leave. Ryan gets out of the car and pounds on Trey's door. Trey opens the door and Ryan says that he knows what really happened with Marissa. Trey doesn't say anything as Ryan walks in, asking Trey how he could do that to her. Ryan says that Trey is destroying his life and saying he hurt Marissa. Trey pushes Ryan away and immediately reaches for his gun. He points it at Ryan and asks him to walk away. Ryan turns around and as Trey lowers the gun, Ryan tackles him. Ryan begins punching Trey and kicking him, just as Marissa pulls up.

Trey slams Ryan down into the glass table and keeps Ryan in a chokehold. Marissa storms in and yells at Trey to stop. Marissa yells at Trey to get off of him and starts hitting him. Trey pushes Marissa away and then grabs the telephone. Just as Trey does this, Marissa spots the gun, picks it up, and points it at Trey. Trey raises the telephone and is about to bang Ryan with it when Marissa fires the gun, shooting Trey in the back. Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap, plays in the background as Trey bleeds out, Marissa falls to the ground, and Trey looks back at her in shock. Trey collapses to the ground and Ryan crawls his way over to Marissa just as Seth and Summer walk in.

One day at Harbor, Summer is talking with Taylor about how she wants to stay on the West Coast in Arizona for college while Seth wants to head out East to travel to Brown. The next day, Summer visits Seth at his house and shows the different lists of possible college choices and she tells him to reconsider, but he opts not to, leaving her storming out of the room.

The following day at the diner, Taylor visits Summer and she states how she is certain of not getting into Brown and says that Taylor can take Seth, explaining that she's sure their story wouldn't last under such conditions and it turns out that she still thinks Seth could do better than she, then leaves asking Taylor to make him happy. That night, however, Taylor shows up at Summer's house and urges her to try to enter Providence, a university closer to Brown and more within her reach, reminding her that Seth loves her and she isn't even giving their relationship a chance. After this event Summer begins to judge Taylor a friend and she realizes that she is over her crush on Seth.

Seth: "Oh, thank you! If I had to listen to one more Berkeley anecdote..."

Summer: "Come here. How does this go?"

Seth: "Okay, it's not that cold, but..."

Summer: "No. I want to see what we are going to look like next year."

Seth: "What are you talking about?"

Summer: "I'm coming with you. Providence College. It's only 20 minutes from Brown."

Seth: "Are you serious?"

Summer: "Yeah. I want to give us a shot, you know. And I can't do that from across the country, so..."

Seth: "I don't believe this. What made you change your mind?"

Summer: "Taylor. She made me see that at Brown you're gonna be surrounded by smart people. It's gonna make you feel really stupid. So you need someone to make you feel smart again. I mean, you want me to come with you, right?"

Seth: "Do I want you to come with me? Summer, you're my little snow angel."

Summer: "My little rabbit."

- Summer admitting to Seth that she will follow him wherever he goes in life, reaffirming their relationship.

Summer then heads over to the Cohen house and asks Kirsten if Seth is around who is with a representative of Berkley. He goes along with her to his room and she tells him that she will be going with him to Rhode Island at Providence which is only 20 minutes from Brown. She then states that she still wants to give their relationship a chance and realized that she couldn't do it over a long distance across the country. Seth, who is stunned asks her what made her change her mind and reveals that it was Taylor who convinced her how at Brown she would be surrounded by really smart people and it would make her feel dumb. She then asks Seth if he wants her to come with him and Seth reaffirms her saying that she is his little snow angel, with the two of them kissing each other on his bed. Later, they are cuddling on the bed when Ryan and Marissa come in saying how they applied for Berkley and how Seth and Summer applied for Providence as The Core Four then banter about it.

The Party Favor[]

One day, Seth tricks Summer into meeting him at the restaurant for pancakes in a veiled attempt to woo her back and ask her to prom by having her chocolate chip pancake read “Prom?” Unsurprisingly Summer says no in the only way Summer knows how to, in a truly gruesome and detailed way involving feeding Seth’s bones to sharks. Upon Summer’s exit, Anna & Seth converse on the phone, trying to figure out what to do next.

At the Roberts’ home, Summer is skeptical about Taylor’s decision to set her up with “big Korea” as her prom date. While in the process of getting ready, she finds Seth’s ‘Napkin of Sin’ and moments later Anna knocks on their bedroom door. There to try and explain the situation to Summer, Anna ends up starting a new plan when Summer won’t listen, by asking for Summer’s approval in Anna asking Seth to prom. Summer says she doesn’t care, and when Anna leaves, Summer heads to her desk, stuffs Seth’s napkin into an envelope, and is determined to give it to Sandy & Kirsten. Meanwhile, Seth’s in the pool house relaying the new plan to Ryan as Anna walks in all ready for the prom. Summer and Marissa reminisce over an old picture of back when they were with Seth and Ryan, while getting ready to head off and pick up their dates then go to the Cohen’s for photo opportunities. Summer then puts the 'Napkin of Sin' on Sandy's desk in his office.

At the Prom, Summer appears to be drinking away her sorrow over Cohen. This leads to her falling off the Pirate ship stage, after accepting her Prom Queen crown and kissing her date in front of all the grads to try and make Cohen jealous. Once Marissa and everyone makes sure Summer is alright, Theresa gets a call from her co-worker and tells Ryan that she is exactly where she wants to be, and intends on telling that to the other guy.

During the after party, both Seth and Anna visit a drunken Summer who is lying face first on a bean-bag. Anna then says its time for phase-three, and asks Seth to come clean to Summer about everything that had happened in the last few weeks. Before parting, Anna tells Summer to feel better and that Seth still loves her. He then tells Summer that he did not get into Brown and he revealed to her that if she wasn't gonna go and he wouldn't go, but he didn't want her to miss the opportunity, so he broke up with her in The Day After Tomorrow. Summer tells him that is the stupidest thing she had ever heard, but Seth tells her that he realized he couldn't be without her so he flew to Brown to try and talk his way in. She states how romantic of him it was and wondered if it worked and he reveals that it didn't but Anna was able to get him an interview at the RISD, and she realized why Anna hugged Seth at the airport. Suddenly, Summer then tries to tell Seth how she left the letter on his father's desk, but she starts throwing up in the nearby bucket. Summer then tells Seth that she loves him and that he loves her too and that they can kiss later, officially getting back together once again.

The Man of the Year[]

The day after Prom, Seth tells Ryan he told Summer the truth about Brown and how Summer and him are back together. Ryan asks if he will tell his parents the truth about Brown as well but Seth says he is going to wait until he gets an acceptance letter from RISD. Summer is then seen lying in her bed who is very hungover and embarrassed from the night before. Marissa tells her about Kaitlin calling about a letter she needs to grab which makes Summer remember the letter she needs to get before the Cohen's know of Seth's lies. She leaves in a hurry.

Summer arrives at the Cohen house and Sandy opens the door. She then sneaks into Sandy's office looking for the letter when Seth walks in. She stops and they both leave to go make out in his room. Summer and Seth are making out then asks where Sandy is. Summer tries to tell Seth about the letter but chooses not to, not wanting to jeopardize things with him.

The next evening, Seth tries to talk to Kirsten about his plans to go out but she is passed out in her room. Seth goes over to his mom's nightstand and smells the mug when Summer walks in. Summer asks Seth if Kirsten is sick and Seth says that she is and has to stay back with her. Seth says they need to raincheck dinner and Summer gets concerned. Seth goes back to his mom's room and covers her with a blanket. He washes out the mug and goes back to his room. He opens up his drawer to possibly smoke a joint but changes his mind.

Next day, Summer goes to Sandy's office looking for the letter and runs into Sandy. She spots the letter on his desk and asks to wait for Seth in his office. She then asks Sandy if Kirsten is feeling better to which Sandy says he didn't know she was sick. Summer moves in closer to his desk and begins to reach for the letter. Sandy grabs the letter before she can and asks her what it is. Sandy opens it and begins to read the, "Most Recent and Troubling Lies" Seth wrote down. Summer tells Sandy how Seth gave it to her and said she could use it against him when he messed up. Sandy responds saying it is serious and Summer says it was before she knew he didn't get into Brown. Sandy and Kirsten did not know that. Sandy then talks with Seth about what happened later that night.

Then there was trouble, at his father's office, Seth gets a call from his mom and she wonders when Seth will get there and he says he will be there soon. Seth grabs the drawing and leaves but knocks the joint over into the trash that starts to catch fire.

During the event, Summer apologizes to Seth and he accepts, as he thinks it is for the best. Sandy hands over his receipts to the DA and plans to keep in touch. Sandy makes up with Seth and Kirsten when police officers arrive looking for someone. Marissa and Ryan show up and he thinks they are looking for him. The police officers leave the club with Seth being arrested. Ryan asks what happened and Sandy says there is a fire at the Newport Group and they think Seth did it.

The Graduates[]

Seth was released from custody after the police store the office burning as an accident. After The Core Four graduates from Harbor, everyone is at the Yacht club, celebrating for dinner as the parents share how proud they are of the kids. Sandy reminisces on first love, heartbreak, friendship, loss, etc. and that it hasn't been easy but they are all a family and toast to that. Summer starts crying after Sandy's speech and talks about how things are coming to an end for all of them as Ryan leaves for Berkeley, Marissa leaves to sail around the world, and her and Seth leave for Rhode Island. Seth is still waiting to hear about his decision from RISD but tells her that whatever happens they will make it work. Seth and Summer are enjoying a moment together when they are visited by Taylor who bids them goodbye as she is leaving for the entire summer, spending it with her new boyfriend. They thank her for her friendship and she leaves.

With Marissa leaving for Greece to spend time there with her father, The Core Four pull up to the gate of The Model Home. Ryan says how it looks familiar and Marissa says it shouldn’t since they rebuilt it after he burned it down. Marissa says it’s for sale and completely deserted. They climb the gate and have some fun altogether in the pool. Ryan and Marissa play chicken against Seth and Summer and are just having a fun time. As they are eating dinner, Summer asks what would have happened if Ryan never came to Newport. Marissa says that Summer would have never talked to Seth and Seth retaliates saying Marissa would still be dating a guy who shaves his chest. Summer says she can’t believe she was interested in Ryan for a brief moment and says no offense. Marissa says it was only until she found out Ryan was from Chino and says how Summer invited him to Holly’s beach house. Seth gets upset because Ryan had told him Summer invited Seth.

Marissa then says that it is time for her to go. Summer says goodbye to her and they hug each other. Summer tells her how much she loves her. Summer then tells Marissa that she is her best friend forever and that she will always be her maid of honor. Seth gives Marissa a hug and she says bye once more and walks toward the house. Seth and Summer start to leave when Summer waves goodbye to Marissa.

Seth and Summer - The Graduates

Back at the Cohen house, Summer and Seth get to his room with a giant box as a graduation present for Summer. Summer opens the box thinking it's empty and finds a letter. Summer opens it and begins to read to find out that Seth got into Rhode Island School of Design and starts next January for the Spring semester. Summer hugs Seth and starts to apologize to her about all of the lies surrounding college and hurting her feelings. Summer says that everything happened the way it was supposed to. They plan on seeing each other very regularly and they kiss. Unfortunately for the couple, tragedy strikes as Summer's best friend, Marissa, is killed in an accident caused by Volchok.

Ryan assures him, saying Summer still loves him and she is simply going through the same things everyone else is dealing with. Just then, Summer comes around the corner walking towards Seth and she greets him with a long kiss. He proceeds to make a joke and she punches him before they kiss again.

Seth then asks if the old Summer is back and she replies in her artificially tanned glory and he stated he wasn't sure that the new her and old him was truly working. Summer replies that the new her smelled weird and then asks what Seth would have done if she didn't go back to being the old her, he then says he had plan to coax the old her out. He gives her a box of The Valley, Season Three, and she kisses him.

After a day of shopping at the mall, it's clear that Summer doesn't find such frivolous activity as rewarding as in the past. She is drawn back to her new friends and their most recent worthy cause. Seth is seen on the phone again talking with Ryan about how Summer has actually changed and he sees her in the doorway and hangs up before Ryan can ask him for advice about Taylor. Seth worries about whether or not he fits into her new life, her "go-GREEN phase", but she assures him that she still loves him and promises to him that she will be best girlfriend she can be. They are seen with Ché and a few of Summer's new friends before meeting with the council of the university about the solar panels. Summer heads inside while Seth stays out in the hallway to wait for her.

Summer then tells him how things can potentially go on all night, saying how she was able to get people to actually listen to her about the cost benefit analysis chart regarding the solar panels and Seth is impressed with her. He then encourages her to go back into the meeting and they kiss. Late that night, Summer returns to her dorm room to find a sketch that Seth had drawn of her. You're undeniable."
