Story of the character[]
Before the pilot[]
Hailey is known to be a party girl when she was young and never truly had real aspirations. She left home at 17 and squandered her trust fund by partying, drugs, and terrible men. She blows into town every once and while, to shake Caleb down for more money, then vanishing again for yrs on end.
Season 1[]
Hailey arrives at Cohen's house, upsetting the quiet life of the family. As soon as she arrives, the first thing you do is organize a party at her elder sister house, putting his nephew Seth and her new nephew Ryan, in the middle. Hailey even closes them, in the pool house. She soon begins to take advantage of Kirsten and Sandy by eating their food and just laze around their house without even looking for a job, due to the fact that Kirsten treats her more as a 3rd child than her sister. However, Sandy gives her a sobering reality check after an intense game of Checkers, Hailey realized how far her life has fallen and soon comes up with a business to create with a friend and needs to hit up Caleb for money.
It never came to fruition as Kirsten puts a stop to that and the two get into a heated argument which ends with Hailey leaving. Even though, the two sisters are mad at one another, Hailey still sends letters from being a yoga instructor in Tahiti, but still hold a grudge towards Kirsten.
However, that is again proven to be another lie by her, when Ryan and Marissa find her in a night club as a coke addled stripper. The two try to get her out, but her aggressive and borderline abusive boss bars the two from the club and forces Hailey to get back to dancing. They soon manage to get back into the club and convince Hailey to return back to Newport. However, they are caught again. This time, Ryan and Marissa are thrown out by big security guards and Hailey gets fired from the club. Soon, she is comforted by Jimmy who has a long talk and drive with her and returns her back to Newport where she and Kirsten finally reconcile.
She soon leaves Newport again to go to rehab and change her ways.
Later, she returns back to Newport and begins a relationship with her childhood babysitter and her sister's one-time boyfriend, Jimmy Cooper.
Season 2[]
The second season began with Jimmy and Hailey trying to figure out their lives, and where their relationship would or could lead. With a lucrative job offer in the Tokyo fashion scene, Hailey accepted the position instead of staying with Jimmy. Soon after, Jimmy also left Newport, for Maui, leaving behind his daughter, Marissa.
At her father's funeral, Hailey briefly returned to visit, with her new career apparently having stabilized her formerly wild ways. A newly responsible Hailey aided in the intervention to combat her sister's alcoholism.
This was the last appearance we see of her.
